Crystal Meadow |
"Welcome traveller", a voice sounds in your head. You look around in surprise as your vision clears. Sparkling before you is a crystal meadow, ice blue and golden citrinene, amethyst and blood red ruby, emerald and violet... Glimmering among them are pools of still water, reflecting and refracting the light.

As you catch your breath in amazement you look around and realise you are on a mountain top. All you can see in the far distance is fluffy cotton-candy clouds, the white sun, and a single bird. You gaze in awe.
"Beautiful isnt it?". You hear that voice again, and look around, but see no-one. The sun is fuzzily warm on your skin and you begin to explore the mountain top, and the crystals and small pools of water all around, glimmering in the sunlight.
Suddenly, from behind a particularily large formation, leaps out a wee polar bear and you jump back in surprise. "Who are you?" you ask.
The polar bear grins. "I am Laboradorite."
"A polar bear?" You are rather confused. What would a polar bear be doing on a mountain top? Especially one of such warm temperature?
"I know what you are thinking", says Laboradorite. "I am like the crystal I am named after, plain on the outside, but if I catch the light right, I am brillant. Here is where the light is. I am a walking lesson; don't judge by outward appearances".
You laugh. Looking at Laboradorite, you notice his fur sparkles.
"Do you know where you are?" he asks. You shake your head. "This is part of Midnyte Shadow's dream. She created it. She is always wandering, and searching, and dreaming. She has hopes for this place. Would you like to know how it came to be?"
"Yea sure that'd be cool!" you say.
"Then let me tell you a story."
'A story', you think, happily, and settle down to listen.
Laboradorite begins.
"...As Midnyte Shadow was wandering one day, looking, as usual, for magical and mystic creatures and places, among the many pages and paths of the mystical world wide web, she came across a delicate blue rose lying on the ground in front of he. Intrigued, she knelt down and picked it up. It smelt..beautiful. Looking up, she noticed a peaceful and welcoming page ahead of her...and the hint of dragons! After all the travelling and searching, she was elated; she had found a place of dragons."
"Now Midnyte Shadow couldnt help herself, she had found a place of adoption,
KelticRose Isle. She eagerly absorbed all the area had to offer, and learnt of the way she might befriend her own dragon. She was hooked. Immediately she travelled back and began exploring her land, for a place, a sparkling place, filled with peace and light, in the hope that one day she might offer a home to a Glenn Dragon. She thought of the Crystal Mountains - where we are now - and decided it would be the perfect place. She comes back occasionally, bringing treasures or ideas she has found while travelling. She appointed a special polar bear, Laboradorite, as keeper of this mountain meadow, companion to any who will live here, and to greet and look after anyone who comes by."
"Wow", you say. "What happened after that, did she get a dragon?"
Laboradorite grins and winks at you. "That is for a later time" he says. "In the meantime, come explore with me. I'll show you Spark, he's a flutter wing. Midnyte Shadow brought him back here as a pet and companion. He doesn't talk much, but he won't mind saying hullo. There's also a crystal ball, and caves, the mirror lake, and clouds and wide rainbows..." His voice begins to fade, and you hurry excitedly to catch up to him and look around.
